Today was a non-running day, but I still wanted to do something active. While at swimming lessons with the girls, I thought to myself, "I wonder if they have open swim tonight?" Then I asked the girls' instructor and she said there was adult lap swim from 8-9pm. Done.
After we got the girls home and in bed, I went back to the nat, ready to get my swim on. After 5 minutes, though, I realized a couple things:
1. I might die.
I guess that's it. I forgot how ex-freaking-hausting swimming is! And the fact that I'm not a fan of water. And that I always feel like I'm about to drown.
I hung onto the edge of the pool, breathing deeply, thinking about the above facts when I decided that instead of quitting, I'd swim for another 20 minutes. It seemed like an eternity, but I was determined.
Plus, I had paid $2 and I was going to get my monies worth.
I ended up swimming for 25 minutes, alternating between the side-stroke, breast-stroke, back-crawl and front-crawl. Incredible workout. My arms/shoulders are SO sore.
I don't think I'll make a habit of it, but I'm really glad I did it tonight.
And lived to write about it.
