Concerts: Love 'em or leave 'em?

A quick diversion from running...

Tonight a group of friends and I went to the Mat Kearney concert in town. It was awesome. The band sounded great, they were having fun, he got the crowd involved without being corny, he was funny...just an awesome show overall. (I did notice, though, that when he sang he looked directly at certain people for a long period of time. Kinda creepy.)

But, like going to the movies, concerts are hard for me. I get distracted so easily. The guy taking a picture behind me. The big girl with the big glasses and the big beer and the big dance moves. The drunk people shouting. SO many people talking over the performance. The lady dropping her FULL drink right at the top of the stairs (I got a security guy to clean it up).

I just don't understand paying $20-$50 for a ticket to a show and then going and either talking through the whole thing or drinking so much you cause a scene and don't remember anything.

For me, concerts are worth it, though, because it's a LIVE performance and it's usually loud enough to compensate for the distractions. Movies? Not so much.

What a great night. I have some awesome friends.
