Why was I so worried about today's run? It went really well. During the second 1/2 mile I was like, "This is great! Maybe I'll run an extra 1/2 just so I can say I ran 2 miles." Then, halfway through the third 1/2 I said, "Man, I did a great job running exactly what was on the schedule for today!" Good run. I can tell my stamina/endurance is increasing...and I like it. Breathing and pace are still a challenge, but I feel like they'll come with time.

The bigger news is that my little buddy, Sam, went to Arizona today! Julie's parents are taking him to visit his cousins for the whole week. There he is (left) with his wings and the card showing his plane. And his "this is how I smile for pictures" smile. And his Yankee cap. Mom did that. She called me at work and said, "I got Sam a hat. A YANKEE hat. HA!" I told her that I hope she enjoys it when he wears it ONLY around her. (Julie's dad is Yankee through and through, so it's ok...I suppose.)

He was SO excited! He loved everything about going to the airport. He wanted to wheel the suitcase around, even though it was pretty heavy. He was all business, taking everything in. Every time I called him, too, he'd shoot his head around with that big "Are you going to take my picture?" grin. Priceless.
I'm happy to report that I didn't cry. On the verge...twice...but I held it together. I'm so happy for him. And proud of him! And I know he's going to have so much fun with Oma and Opa and his cousins Noah and Jack and Uncle Steven and Auntie Jessica!
Lastly, and most explicitly...running shorts are the devil. No...they
smell like the devil. Covered in poop. Seriously, they make me want to barf. I've never smelled anything like it. Ya know how death has a smell? So do running shorts. It's amazing.
And on that note...I gotta go shower.
