Undisappointment

Wow, what a turnaround from Monday. Ran over two miles today and felt like I could've kept going. So...what gives? Why was it so much easier this time? There were a few factors, I think.

1. It was the earliest I've ever run. Not just during this training, but in my life. The long work day didn't have a chance to sap all my energy yet. Instead, the morning dew and cool air invigorated me. The sun was on its ascent, but wasn't pouring out its heat quite yet. Loved the morning run.

2. I got off the track. This was key, I believe. The round-and-round did its job, but I've graduated to big boy running. So, I used MapMyRun and did a bit over 2 miles. Not quite the 2.5 this week calls for, but I could have easily gone at least another half. I really liked the twists and turns and the hills. Since I went out before work today, I was under a bit of a time constraint. Plus, I needed some success. Mission accomplished. (My favorite moment was when I ran past the crushed Hamm's beer can in front of a house and laughed, "Classy.")

3. I listened to RadioLab ("Afterlife"), which was super interesting. I'm definitely a podcast/talk and not music listener when I run.

I also used my newer shoes again, but I'm not sure that made a huge difference.

So, I feel REALLY good. A great start to the day. Now, we'll have to see how it affects the rest of my day.

(Oh, and yesterday I played basketball with my friend Jesse and then did my arms and abs at night. Silly non-running days...you're so boring!)
