I did over 6 miles today.
Ok, I ran three this morning and walked three this evening.
This morning's run went really well. I shaved over a minute off my time from Saturday (about 32 minutes today). Pretty uneventful overall. I'd like to try and run the race in 30 minutes, but...
After work I went downtown and walked the route I'll be running on Saturday. It would be amazing if I can hit 30 minutes. The first .75 miles are huge hills! I was walking up, muttering to myself, "Are you freaking kidding me??" I'm SO glad I walked it today so I know what I'm in for come Saturday. I feel bad for those who are surprised with the hills.
After that, though, it's pretty smooth sailing. Flat and fun. Plus, the last mile or so is on the lake shore path, so that'll be cool.
I tried to imagine all the people running together, but I couldn't. I'm just going to have to experience it. I'm not sure how I'll handle it. Will I be intimidated? Challenged? Distracted? Will it make me run better or worse? Will it make a difference at all?
I'll probably run an easy mile and a half or so on Thursday and that's it. Friday night we pick up our packets and then Saturday we'll leave early for the 7am start.
I'm getting pretty excited.
P.S. If you would have bet me on July 3rd that I'd EVER say I had an "uneventful" three mile run or that I was going for an "easy mile and a half or so," I wouldn't have taken the bet. Hilarious.
