Yesterday I didn’t do much of anything. A half-hearted attempt at some ab work, but even that was just to say I did something. I need to continue my diligence with this and not get lazy.
The more exciting thing yesterday was going to cheer my wife on at her first 5k!
She ran the Full Moon Run downtown around Monona Bay (?) at 9pm. Now, understand that Julie usually runs at 5:30AM and is sometimes in BED by 9pm, so that was a huge change for her. Since it was her first race, she was super excited and nervous…it was adorable.
She got a new top to wear and prettied herself up before the race (she’s always pretty, so that wasn’t hard), which I teased her about. Then she started complaining about “a pain in her ankle that is different than usual.” I told her it was all in her head. Helpful? Sure.
I went to see her and our friend Jaye at the start with the hundreds of other runners and it was so cool! I was terribly jealous the whole time. I wanted to be in there mixing it up! After they took off, I ran back to the car to go over to the finish at Olin Park.
Julie finished in just over 35 minutes and I was SO happy for her! She said it was a really spiritual experience and felt like she was floating most of the time. She killed it. I’m so proud of her. (I can’t wait to read what she has to say about it!)
The experience made me REALLY excited for the 29th. I know it’s going to be a blast. Being at the start with all those runners, watching everybody warm up…awesome. And then being at the end and seeing everybody finishing strong, proud of their accomplishment…inspiring.
So…it was a great night and I’m SO proud of my babe! Love you, Jules!
